Coffee Shop Marketing: Finding Your Why
Every business needs a vision. Behind every high-performing team is a clear understanding of where they are heading, and realistic goals to get there.
The foundation for this clear understanding is creating a business vision, mission and purpose. The importance of purpose shouldn't be underestimated - if you want your team to be engaged they need to know where they're heading, and why.
Bringing out your 'why' is one of the most important elements of creating your purpose and underlying objectives.
So how do you do it?
A good place to start is with a strategy workshop, gather your team, ideally off-site, and spend a day bringing out the company values, mission and purpose. Once this has been established you can talk about objectives and actions.
A good framework to use for this is The Balanced Scorecard, as this will align your vision and purpose with business activities. Why not try using a virtual whiteboard for your strategy workshop, Miro has some brilliant templates, like this Balanced Scorecard one: https://miro.com/templates/balanced-scorecard/
The Balanced Scorecard gives a balanced view of the businesses objectives, taking Financial, Customer, Internal Process, and Learning and Growth into account.
This scorecard from intrafocus is a brilliant example of the expected output from your strategy day, where business vision and purpose are broken down into objectives and measurements:
